Shane (Storm) Baird has been playing sax for 15
years. He is the leader of the “TriTone”
horn section featuring Zack Smith on trumpet and
Adam Waite on Trombone. The TriTones have toured
with MRB, Groovement, Inna Heights and many others.
Their horn sound has become a staple of the San
Francisco club scene where they play with all kinds
of bands ranging from reggae, funk, soul, R&B,
Hip hop and jazz. They also lay down horn lines
in the studio for all kinds of groups. The latest
studio work has included movie sound tracking, The
Reggae Angels and Inna Heights.
Shane takes great pride in bringing a dynamic horn
sound to whatever show he plays be it with the TriTones
or solo. The jazz tradition of quality musicianship
and the producer’s ear for what is hot and
what is not is the backbone of Storm's success.
He has played with Groove Juicy, Soul Patrol, Backbone
Slip, Groovement, Brown Baggin’ It, Mystic
Roots Band, The cootdog Project, Inna Heights, Cannonball,
Realistic to name a few.
We caught with him and this is what he had to say
about his success, "I just try to show my love
to all the people that have come out to shows. I
want to get better every show so the people that
come can always here something new. If it wasn't
for the people I wouldn't be half the player I am
today."
Shane is cootdog’s cousin and started playing
with MRB in 2001 for many months, which included
a Rosarito tour, and many killer Bay Area Dates.
He recorded a track on the cootdog Project album
and should be featured more with MRB in the future.
"The Mystic Roots Band Has Always been one
of my favorite bands so when I started to tour with
them it was really a dream come true. Thanks for
the memories, support and love you have shown me
over the years MRB."
